Robert K Massey
I was born in the southern state of Bavaria in Germany, where I grew up with horses. I started riding at the age of five and was fascinated by these big, powerful and sensitive animals spending every minute of my free time at the yard. I was trained at a large yard near Munich, where my trainer/instructor soon discovered my enthusiasm and passion for all disciplines, but found my natural talent and ability for dressage worth developing further. For the years to come and throughout my teens I spent many hours riding, schooling and competing horses for private owners to a high standard.
During my membership with the German Riding Federation I achieved the “Deutsches Reitabzeichen” in Bronze and Silver, DRA Klasse III, DRA Klasse II and DRA Klasse I, but had to interrupt my Tournament career due to finishing my education at a boarding school in Switzerland. I then moved to the UK to embark on a successful career in the City of London. I have owned, schooled and trained horses privately during my years in the Financial Markets and have learnt a lot more about the nature of these beautiful creatures over the years.
I am very lucky, that my wife and children share my passion for horses, which made my decision to leave the City for a renewed career with horses easy.
I am a fully insured BHS registered Instructor/Coach UKCC Level 2 and passionate in teaching students of all ages and abilities the Equestrian Art – to ride horses with passion and understanding, regardless of being in Dressage, Showjumping or Cross Country. I work and teach according to the German Scales of Training, which are fundamental to any and all horse training, hence fundamental to any and all rider training. I am also a Instructor/Riding member of the TTT Trust ( Training the Teachers of Tomorrow) for my own continous personal development.
